The best is yet to come
The 12th East Asian Conference on Phonosurgery (EACP2020) was held on Oct 16-17, 2020. The hybrid virtual and on-site meeting was a great success to have more than 350 participants from 13 different countries. Multidisciplinary discussions were conducted between on-line and on-site attendees. Congratulations to all speakers, moderators, and audiences for creating a new chapter in EACP history. Through utilizing new technologies, we make the virtual come true.
The pandemic has changed our lifestyle since early 2020. Travel has been restricted, and has not allowed us to meet friends in person. Some of our medical colleagues have sacrificed much during this fight against the virus. Most of us may change the pattern of medical care such as the decision in scoping or airway management. These changes may last forever. At the same time, this is also a good opportunity for all medical providers to look back on their practices. Focusing on what we have learned during this pandemic will allow us to identify the most beneficial procedures for our patients, which can not only keep both themselves and ourselves a better medical environment.
This is the first time to meet some of our fellow colleagues online. Although we are separated physically, our spirits are connected. The dark clouds overhanging all of us will eventually pass, and the best is yet to come.
Looking forward to seeing you in Taiwan soon.

Amazing happenings
Oct. 7, 2020
Just three months ago, I was still not able to make any decision on how to proceed for EACP 2020.
To cancel the event, to postpone the event or to continue to hold the event. After the pandemic COVID crisis from early 2020, I asked myself the same questions every night. Since the situations had changed, the answers were different all the time.
Everything started when I had received mails from my best friends, Professors Akihiro Shiotani and Lee Byung Joo. Without the full supports from our Japanese and Korean fellow colleagues, we would not have been able to make this happen.
For the first time, a combined virtual and on site EACP will be held in Chia-Yi, Taiwan.
We are looking forward to your attendance.

To
Members of East Asian Conference
on Phonosurgery
As we all know, with the ongoing
worldwide COVID-19 pandemic,
many medical staff, including
some of our members, are now
fighting against the coronavirus
pandemic. This is a tough and
difficult moment. With very warm
wishes, the organizing committee
of EACP 2020 hopes every one of
you is staying safe.
The global case numbers are
still growing up rapidly
everyday. From the information
of the Health minister of many
countries, most of the medical
doctors are still prohibited to
fly overseas for conferences.
With a heavy heart, we would
like to formal announce 2020
EACP will be presented as an
online meeting for overseas
participants. The other ways,
for domestic participants, it
will still be presented as a
on-site meeting at Chiayi,
Taiwan on October 16-17. We hope
all of you will still join 2020
EACP as usual, either online or
on-site.
Although we cannot predict when
this pandemic will end, we are
very sure we’ll overcome this
crisis and recover from it to
become much stronger and our
friendship will also still
continue to endure. Wish you all
the best.
